I started collecting vinyl when I was a student, after being introduced to my very first vintage record store by my long term friend Ali Ata. I have always loved music and had hundreds of CDs back in the day, but ten when digital music came in I eventually got rid of all of those CDs, and never replaced them, content with an iPod and Spotify. What I wasn’t prepared for before I walked into that record store however was juts how hooked I was gonna get on records, and this has now been a passion of mine for over 7 years, and it is showing no signs of slowing up!

This is a super addictive passion and here is exactly why.

Replacing and Discovery

The first point to make here is that when you are buying vinyl you are buying two types of music at once. This is because I want all of those albums that I know and love, on vinyl, so that means replacing all of those CDs. Secondly I am looking for new music and exciting new bands and artists to listen to, and that again is why I find myself buying so much.

Digging for Gold

Whilst you can of course buy brand new vinyls or reissues of old albums that have been made, there is absolutely no question that the most exciting thing to do is to dig through old vinyls and see what you can find. I have found some absolute gems doing this and there is no doubt in my mind that it is my favorite part of vinyl collecting. This of course shows exactly why it is so addictive, because there is always that sense that something special is around the corner if you just keep digging through those crates.

The Community

I am pretty involved in the vinyl community on social media and this too provides inspiration and motivation. For example everyone will share what they are listening to and what their listening set-up is like, and that just inspires me to go and throw a record on, or indeed head out to the record store and see what is available. I have always loved the passion which others have for buying and playing records and my friends and followers on social media seriously help to keep me motivated.

Slice of History

When you buy old albums and records which were previously owned by someone else, there is something so special about thinking of the times that they would have enjoyed the music. I love to consider this when I am listening to a certain album, to have a deep think about who owned the record before me, and what they were like. This is another reason why this is such an addictive hobby, because these records tell stories, and that is something that I have always enjoyed.

Diamond Environmental Services – How Waste Management Services Have Been Critical During The Pandemic

Whilst we are all aware of the phenomenal and arduous work that the brilliant healthcare workers have been doing during this crisis, it is also important to recognize some of the unsung heroes of this pandemic. Today we are going to be focusing on one of those unsung heroes and that is the great work which waste management services like Diamond Environmental Services have been doing during the last 12 months. We may not have seen the work that they have been doing but they, much like those healthcare workers have been working around the clock to try and keep us safe and to try and limit the spread of this nasty virus which has gripped the world.

Here is how they have been doing their bit.

Cleaning the Streets

If you have seen anyone on the streets, dressed up in their hazmat suits and spraying surfaces, those are the people who we are talking about. These men and women have bene hired by local governments to keep our streets clean and sanitized and the number of infections which they will have reduced as a reason for this is incalculable, but certainly huge.

Support With Advice

There is no way that businesses and business owners have become overnight experts on the spread of germs and bacterias, but they have been forced into a position where they had to know. how to deal with it. In such scenarios these businesses discuss things with companies who are experts in it, much like a company which specializes in environmental services and waste management. These businesses have been sharing their knowledge in order to help so many industries to keep their customers safe and to keep their staff safe too.

Hospital Support

It is not just that hospitals have been overwhelmed which is the issue, but also that so many staff inside the hospital have been forced into self-isolation as a result of them getting the Covid virus. This is yet another area where these environmental services have been able to step in and offer their expertise and their manpower to support those hospitals who have found things difficult. This doesn’t get spoken abut too much but the small jobs which the companies inside this industry have been doing have been fantastic and incredibly helpful for those who are facing difficulties.

Hotels and Rentals

Without waste management services the travel and tourism industry would have faced even bigger problems and many more businesses would have been forced to close their doors. The reality is that these companies have been critical to allowing businesses in this industry to open back up and to receive guests again. They have done this thanks to their help in training staff and of course offering their services for cleaning, sanitization and waste management.

As you can see, these are very much one of the unsung heroes of this pandemic and their work has been absolutely crucial for so many.
