There are many types of batteries. That’s why you need to familiarize yourself with as many as possible so that you can choose the best battery options to meet your needs. Fortunately, this article can help. Here we take a look at a guide to batteries that will make shopping for new batteries a lot easier.

Automotive Lead Acid Batteries

This type of battery is most commonly used in automobiles, motorcycles, boats, and other types of vehicles that feature a starter and need power for various electrical components.

The great thing about automotive lead acid batteries is that they can be charged with an alternator and will typically last for years with proper care.

Alkaline Batteries

Alkaline batteries are probably the type of batteries that most people are familiar with. That’s because they are used in most household devices such as a TV remote control, trimmers, and clocks.

When choosing batteries for common uses around the house, alkaline batteries provide a wide variety of sizes, including 9V and everything from AA to D.

Lithium Batteries

Lithium batteries are the second most common type of disposable battery in the United States. The biggest difference between alkaline and lithium batteries is the fact that lithium batteries cost more because they store energy longer, thus you won’t need to replace them as often.

Carbon Zinc Batteries

Many people prefer carbon zinc batteries simply because of the price. That’s due to the fact that carbon zinc is a cheaper alternative. Just keep in mind that they don’t last nearly as long.

Rechargeable Batteries

Rechargeable batteries are available in all the most popular sizes. They tend to cost significantly more than traditional batteries but can be recharged, making them more cost-effective as well as more environmentally friendly.

NiMH Batteries

This type of battery is a nickel-metal hybrid product that provides a high energy density. Because of this high energy density, NiMH batteries are the perfect choice for flashlights, cameras, and other devices that tend to require a lot of energy during use.
