Trying to organize gifts for your employees can be a nightmare because what is at first glance an easy task can turn out to be time-consuming and tricky. After all, if you run a business, your mind will likely be full of stressful thoughts, such as how to improve your products or where the rent money will come from for your office, rather than which types of chocolates your employee likes.
This is not to say that you shouldn’t make an effort, because it is crucial that you give your staff fun and thoughtful gifts when it is their birthday, leaving day, or holiday season. It makes all the difference because a well-thought-out present shows you value them as an individual.
It is also why cop-out gifts are worse than not giving a gift at all. If you have ever received a present that was clearly panic bought, then you know the slightly insulting feeling you can experience when this happens.
If you are struggling for ideas, here are some examples of fun gifts to give your employees:
You could give them branded clothing
If you are looking for a fun and quirky gift personalized to your business, you should consider giving your employees custom clothing, which is branded with whatever you want to say on it.
For example, you could gift your staff members some branded socks that contain a funny message, a name, or just the company logo to remind them of work over the holiday season. You can design and order branded socks at Anthem Branding.
Buy a unique gift for each person to show you know them personally
Alternatively, if you want your fun gifts to be more meaningful, you could go out and buy a small present that means something to the specific person you are giving it to.
If you were giving it to an employee who was about to go on maternity leave, for instance, then you could buy them some baby clothes or some toys. Alternatively, if you know your employees personally, you could find a gift that reminds you of a conversation or memory you shared or something related to their personal lives.
This is a great touch because it demonstrates that although you are their boss, you know them each personally and care enough to know about their lives away from work.
You could get them a bottle of wine
It might be a cliché, but like all clichés, it is popular for a reason. Buying wine (or another classy alcoholic beverage if they don’t like wine) is a fun gift because, well, you can have a lot of fun over a bottle of it.
Gifting wine is a great option because it is thoughtful enough, classy enough to be cherished, and fun enough to be enjoyed wholeheartedly by the recipient. Just remember to buy a quality vintage, or the gift-giving may backfire.
If they are retiring, you could give them a walking stick
If an employee has a special day coming up, it might be good to buy them a specific gift that makes light of the occasion.
If it is someone’s last day before retiring, then you could give them a walking stick as a joke, for example. Alternatively, if someone’s getting married, you could get them a hen party sash.
