12 Productive Things To Do in Lockdown

Everything was going fine until COVID-19 barged into our lives. Nobody saw the unfortunate turn of events coming. While it is our duty to follow the pandemic restrictions and cooperate with the government, the confinement doesn’t have to be boring.

We all have had enough of binge watching shows on Netflix and looking at social media memes all day. It is either time we change our routine or let our creativity die. We have got so much time on our hands right now. So why not spend it doing something productive? Maybe take up a hobby or hone your cooking skills? Here are some fun activities to help you pass your time.

Set daily goals

It is true that we have all the time on earth. But, it doesn’t mean that you have to get your hands on everything. Instead, take it one thing at a time. You can set some daily or weekly goals and out them into action. It could be anything from losing weight to sticking on a diet plan.

This way, you can prioritise things that are important at the moment without feeling that you are rushing out of time.

Learn a new language

How many times have you thought of learning italian or french but gave up because you couldn’t take out time for it? Well, this is the time to do it. You can teach yourself these languages with the help of the internet. How does that sound for a CV upgrade?

Learn an online course

Learning never stops. Whether you want to hone your existing skills or learn something new, do it while you still have time. There are so many online courses available for you. So what are you waiting for? Sign up for an online course to add to your knowledge base.

Reading

Whether you want to improve your vocabulary or escape to a whole new world of dreams, there are so many things that reading helps you with. If you are not yet ready to commit to a novel, start small with short stories.

Organise your wardrobe

Closet maintenance is something that we all run away from but it is important. An organised and cleaned wardrobe looks much better than a messy closet. When you declutter your wardrobe, you can take out clothing pieces that are of no use for you. You can pass these items to your family and friends or donate them to charity.

Reduce your digital consumption

Your digital devices can take a toll on your optic health. They emit high-energy blue light that damages your retinal cells. If you have work from home to do, use good-quality blue light glasses to escape the unpleasant symptoms of digital eye strain. Eat healthy

Lockdown is the time to take a break from eating junk food and eat home made meals packed with nutrients. Stock up your refrigerator with green veggies and nuts. Include healthy foods in your diet to boost your immunity.

Even though all the gyms are closed, you can workout at your home. So many gym and yoga instructors are offering online classes, you can take advantage of that. Exercise will strengthen you from within and make you feel happier.

Meditate

It is normal to get negative thoughts during these unprecedented times. To calm your mind, nothing works better than meditation. Moreover, it will bring positive changes in your physical and mental health. If you don’t have a clue about how to meditate, learn from online meditation sessions.

Talk to your family and friends

The support of our loved ones helps take us out of difficult situations. While you cannot visit your friends and relatives, you can connect with them digitally. Get in touch with them over a conference video call or skype. You can make it even more fun with virtual happy hour or digital game night.

Go get dressed up

You will feel a lot different when you slip into something nice other than your PJs and night suits. If you are working from home, turn up to the virtual meetings as you would on an actual one.

Take care of your skin

When you are indoors, your skin is enjoying a break from that UV light and pollution. But you can take your skin from good to better. You can also try home remedies to get healthy skin and hair.

Don’t hold things for later. Now is the perfect time to try your hands at everything you once aspired to do.
