May 19, 2022 by Grant Leave a Comment

Did you know that just getting furniture essentials can cost you around $5,500 in the United States?

The quality of your furniture will indicate your price, but going the cheap route isn’t the best since they easily get damaged.

If you want to protect your expensive items in the house, you need to stop them from sliding around and getting banged up.

Keep reading to learn about some of the most effective ways to keep furniture from sliding around your house!

Try Furniture Grippers

One of the best ways to keep furniture from sliding on wood floors is to use furniture grippers.

Furniture grippers are a cheap solution and work as excellent floor protectors. Gripper pads can get placed on the bottom of the legs touching the floor. The grip side should be facing outward to prevent movement.

The best part about using these grippers is that you can typically cut them to your ideal size. Not only do these grippers add some cushion between the legs and floor, but it’s also discrete.

Get an Area Rug Pad

Most people don’t realize it, but you can get rug pads to prevent them from moving across the room.

Area rug pads are inexpensive and effective. They use a patterned texture with grippy material. These pads work best on wood and vinyl floors, however, tiling and laminate can become an issue.

Only use these pads for carpets and light items since the grips aren’t strong enough for tall and heavy objects.

Use Rubber Caps

Do your chairs feel a bit lower than you would like while sitting at the table?

Rubber caps can be placed on furniture legs to protect the furniture and floor. They also add an inch or so, which can be convenient for storage. Depending on the type of furniture you have, you can try peel-and-stick caps, cups, or screw-on caps.

These caps are effective especially when the floors are kept clean. When dirt and grime build up, the caps might slip.

Add Placement Blocks

Blocks are a wonderful solution for preventing sliding when you are moving items or live in a risky area.

Moving removalists often use placement blocks to keep items from moving in a vehicle. If they work in motion, they are likely to keep things in place at home!

If you live in a state that experiences earthquakes, for example, placement blocks can ensure that items don’t move. These are much more powerful than small strips of rubber and they work perfectly for large items.

Can You Keep Furniture From Sliding?

If you want to keep furniture from sliding on your floors, there are a few methods to try.

Depending on your floor, you might be better off getting rubber pads, grippers, or blocks. Fortunately, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to protect your furniture legs and your floor won’t get damaged either.

Whether you want to prevent items from moving in your home or while transporting them, these items won’t let you down.
